This position assists our Person Served with their efforts to make positive changes in their environment.
*Job Requirements:* * Requires Bachelor’s degree in social services or related field, or equivalent in life and/or professional experience * Minimum three years work experience in domestic violence, legal area or human services field preferred * Knowledge of the Illinois Domestic Violence Act * Domestic Violence Professional Certification * 40 hours of domestic violence training * Ability to apply knowledge, principles, and procedures to address domestic violence, and homelessness needs.
* Excellent assessment, counseling, and training skills * Valid Driver's License and automobile insurance.
*Duties include, but are not limited to:* * Provide information regarding the legal system and the Illinois Domestic Violence Act to persons served.
* Assist persons served with paperwork necessary as well as accompany them to court to obtain Orders of Protection and other court proceedings as required.
* Act as liaison between the agency and the criminal justice system and local law enforcement * Provide follow-up as indicated to meet the needs of the persons served, including appropriate referral and staff consultation.
· Actively remain knowledgeable / informed about legal and social agencies in the area for such referrals.
* Provide public education, in-service training and institutional advocacy regarding domestic violence issues.
* Utilize effective communication techniques and professionalism: · Tactful, friendly, and courteous to all -in person and on phone · Respect rights/dignity/confidentiality and HIPAA compliance in all areas · Demonstrate cultural/ethnic, age-specific awareness when communicating with persons served, visitors and others · Demonstrate a Trauma Informed approach to providing services and promote a philosophy of acceptance and respect for staff and persons served.
· Demonstrate enthusiasm and promote positive morale among co-workers.
Cooperate with co-workers; assist/act as back-up to other staff.
*Benefits:* * 17 paid vacation days per year; hours accrued each pay period total 17 days * 12 sick days per year; hours accrued each pay period to total 12 days * 9 paid holidays off * Crosspoint pays 77.
