Job Summary The Senior Associate Director for Equal Access and Equal Opportunity, Office of Institutional Equity will provide expertise, guidance and oversight to campus-wide efforts to ensure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Sections 503 and 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and with other state and federal laws and regulations pertaining to persons with disabilities.
This role will also assist with the formal and informal resolution of complaints of discrimination and harassment as well as assist with OIE's faculty hiring process efforts to ensure that affirmative action and equal opportunity practices are maintained and adhere to university, state, and federal regulatory guidelines.
This position will also develop and provide campus-wide trainings in related areas.
The Senior Associate Director for Equal Access and Equal Opportunity will report to the Director of the Office of Institutional Equity and will serve as a Deputy ADA Coordinator.

Responsibilities: ADA Compliance Oversight Provide advice, guidance, and oversight regarding compliance with the ADA, Sections 503 and 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and other federal and state laws and regulations at Purdue University Interpret current disability-related laws and regulations affecting University policies and procedures Oversee the handling and resolution of matters pertaining to Electronic Information, Communication and Technology (EICT) accessibility Cultivate relationships with and develop and maintain clear lines of communication with campus and community partners, particularly in the area of accessibility Coordinate and Cooperate with campus partners in key university offices to promote access and inclusivity in employment, instruction, and virtual and physical environments and programs Maintain up-to-date knowledge and awareness of developments in relevant areas of disability and accessibility law and policy and serve as a resource to campus on disability compliance issues Create and manage websites and marketing materials related to accessibility Serve as a Deputy ADA Coordinator Complaint Processes and Investigations Oversee the handling and resolution of accessibility concerns and the university's accommodation-related grievance processes Assist in the investigation and resolution of formal and informal complaints of discrimination and harassment Conduct thorough reviews of investigation reports Create and disseminate educational materials to inform the university community about their rights and the available grievance and complaint processes Consult, as necessary, on Title IX matters Faculty Hiring Manage, monitor, and audit the University's faculty hiring process and practices Provide guidance and direction to university departments on conducting effective and efficient search processes for faculty positions Provide expertise in the area of effective recruitment in alignment with university and departmental goals Review faculty requisitions to ensure compliance with university policies and procedures, as well as state and federal law Training Lead, develop, implement, present, and review training programs for University faculty, staff, campus units, and other groups related to disability and accessibility issues Provide University-wide trainings on harassment, discrimination, equal opportunity, equal access and affirmative action, and faculty search processes What We're Looking For: Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school Five years of relevant professional experience in one or more of the following areas: compliance; discrimination, labor, employment and/or disability law; higher education; or a similar position demonstrating experience and knowledge in the field of regulatory compliance, equal opportunity, equal access, discrimination, and/or harassment Knowledge of the ADA and other laws addressing the rights of people with disabilities, such as Sections 503 and 504 of the Rehabilitation Act Working knowledge of federal and state equal opportunity and non-discrimination laws/regulations (including FERPA, Title IX, Title VII, Title VI, and other applicable laws/regulations) Knowledge of complexities surrounding sexual misconduct, including sexual assault and sexual harassment cases in a university or college setting Experience and familiarity with the application of Equal Employment Opportunity and ADA principles in a university setting Experience in training large and diverse populations and ability to speak in front of groups Familiarity with accommodation processes and experience working with a broad range of accessibility needs Ability to analyze, monitor, and implement university policies and procedures and local, state and federal law Strong organizational planning and critical thinking skills with emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail, including, but not limited to, excellent writing and proofreading skills Demonstrated experience in research and/or writing in a related field Ability to contribute to a team environment, work in a collaborative environment, and interact effectively and collegially with campus partners Excellent people and customer service skills Capable of taking direction, but also capable of taking initiative, assuming responsibility, working independently, and handling confidential information with discretion Ability to exercise discretion and sound judgment in the handling of student and employment records and in collaborating with individuals with disabilities Motivated individual with ability to efficiently multitask, work under pressure, manage frequent interruptions and meet deadlines Learning orientation to changing technology Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word Valid US or Canadian driver's license What is Helpful: Prior compliance-related experience, experience in higher education, or working as an ADA Coordinator or in a similar role Experience with Maxient What We Want You to Know: This is a 100% on-site position Purdue will not sponsor employment authorization for this position A background check is required for employment in this position A cover letter, resume, and three professional references are required The salary range for this position is 79,500-90,000 FLSA: Exempt (Not eligible for overtime) Retirement Eligibility: Defined Contribution Waiting Period Purdue University is an EOE/AA employer.
