The position will be in located at the Amentum GE Commercial site in Lafayette, IN.
Amentum is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance SkillBridge Opportunity to join our Industrial Facility Maintenance team in Lafayette, IN.
This position requires an understanding of mechanical maintenance concepts, a great attitude, and the willingness to learn technical skills in an industrial/ manufacturing environment.
The Mechanical Maintenance SkillBridge Opportunity is responsible for assisting higher level technicians in responding to work orders and providing service and feedback to the customer on all work orders, troubleshooting, and providing preventive maintenance on the facility mechanical equipment, fixtures, and systems.
Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to: performing a variety of preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and trouble calls.
This position will assist the more senior facility maintenance mechanics in responding to work orders, providing service and feedback to the customer on all hot and cold calls, and performing Preventive Maintenance on various types of equipment as scheduled.
General Maintenance of equipment will also be required.
Responsibilities:
Assists the team with maintaining, operating and troubleshooting mechanical systems and equipment such as pumps, bearings, blowers, fans, gearboxes, air handlers and other equipment as required.
Conducts preventive maintenance inspections and performs required preventative maintenance actions such as lubrication, cleaning, filter changes, etc.
Performs preventive maintenance as scheduled in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Recommends measures to improve maintenance methods and equipment performance.
Understands company policies and enforces safety regulations.
Safely performs functions of the position including following proper safety guidelines such as job hazard analysis and lockout/tagout procedures and wearing PPE as required.
Operates a variety of equipment such as hand tools, laptop computers and diagnostic hardware to perform work.
Demonstrates flexibility in the day-to-day activities and scheduling for the benefit of the customer.
Other duties may be assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent.
Currently Serving in the Military transitioning to the Civilian sector in the next year.
This is a position that requires a minimum of three years maintenance experience.
Must be willing to work overtime when required.
Must be at least 18 years or older.
Additional Information:
Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.
This position may require a valid Driver’s License.
This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization.
This position will require the ability to obtain a security access badge at our client’s location.
This position may require various shifts, weekends, and alternative work schedules.
Physical Requirements:
Requires the ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
Requires the ability to regularly climb extension ladders, roof ladder, stepladders, and stairs during shift.
Requires the ability and flexibility to bend/stoop, squat, move in a 90-degree fashion, stretch/reach repetitively throughout shift.
Requires the ability to walk throughout the plant during shift.
Requires the use of a Company/Client approved utility knife.
Some tasks will require repetitive wrist movement.
Requires the ability to interact with all clients in a professional and friendly manner despite periods of stress.
Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of basic repair theory.
Knowledge of basic electrical theory,
Knowledge of basic mechanical theory.
Experience using hand tools.
Basic computer skills for data entry, email, etc.
